I recall talking about this issue with colleagues a year ago and now that the campaign season is really heating up, the State Elections Enforcement Commission has decided to interpret the new campaign finance law by saying that campaigns must put disclaimers on their social sites. I’m totally in favor of full transparency but Yikes - do they understand that this would eat up your entire Twitter character allowance? You can place your disclaimer within your icon graphic and within your profile information and that should satisfy the SEEC. Requiring it to be in every single post exceeds the reality of the technology, and probably the statute as written.
