How do they expect to enforce that?
The FTC is planning to regulate bloggers who review products or provide testimonials in an attempt to bring them in line with other journalists. Good luck. With the plethora (ever since the Three Amigos I’ve loved that word) of bloggers out there it will be quite the task for the federal agency to keep tabs on all the reviews posted each day. While the intent of the regulation is a good one, it will create a world in which bloggers tattle on each other and FTC investigators track down the validity of one weight loss claim over another. And when it comes to news, bloggers are free thinkers offering a perspective that is refreshingly unlike journalists. Will this new regulation impact their ability to provide alternative opinions? Let’s hope not.
